Upward Bound Tri-State

Tri-State Upward Bound: Shaping tomorrow's leaders

Upward Bound is a ÑÇÖÞɫͼ funded through the US Department of Education. ÑÇÖÞɫͼ State University was funded to serve three Upward Bound Classic Grants.

Upward Bound is for high school students who want to further their education, immediately after high school. (college or vocational school) The goal of Upward Bound is to increase the rate at which participants complete secondary education and enroll in and graduate from institutions of postsecondary education. Upward Bound is funded through the U.S. Department of Education.

Our Mission

Each of the three grants partner with a specific target school or schools to motivate, assist and promote qualified high school students to by building academic skills and social growth, facilitated by exposure to cultural, academic, and social experiences.

Upward Bound Tri-State

Serves four schools in three states, hence the name Tri-State: Kentucky, Missouri and Tennessee.

  • Calloway County High School (KY)
  • Charleston High School (MO)
  • Marshall County High School and (KY)
  • Henry County High School and Grove High School (TN)

Eligibility, services and benefits

Who is Eligible?

To be eligible for ÑÇÖÞɫͼ State Upward Bound a student must meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • A U.S. citizen or eligible resident that attends one of the following target area schools:

    • Calloway County

    • Charleston, Missouri

    • Marshall County

    • Henry County

The student must meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Income guideline established by the US Department of Education

First generation student (neither parent obtained a four-year college degree)

Free Services

  • ACT prep and practice tests

  • Tutoring Assistance online

  • College Tours

  • Field trips, cultural and educational events

  • Workshops

  • Saturday Sessions (once a month)

Benefits

  • A monthly stipend during the academic school year and summer. Students must be active in the ÑÇÖÞɫͼ and complete activities assigned.

  • Assistance completing college applications

  • Assistance preparing for college entrance exams

  • Assistance in completing financial aid and scholarship information
