Mission and Objectives
Criminal Justice Mission Statement:
The mission of the criminal justice ÑÇÖÞɫͼ at ÑÇÖÞɫͼ State University is to provide students with an education in criminal justice that:
- meets the highest national standards
- prepares students to think critically about crime and justice
- enables them to work efficiently in criminal justice agencies
- prepares them to be successful in law school and graduate ÑÇÖÞɫͼs
- enables them to be intelligent consumers of criminal justice research
- prepares them for the ethical challenges criminal justice presents
Educational Objectives for Criminal Justice Major (B.A./B.S. Degree):

Graduates must demonstrate oral and written communication skills which follow the conventions of standard English usage and meet the criteria for clarity, organization, development and thoughtfulness.

Graduates must demonstrate basic understanding of research methodologies, statistical analysis, and computer applications.

Graduates must demonstrate mastery of the process and components of the criminal justice system, crime causation, criminal law, and the principles of administration and management.

Graduates must demonstrate that they can apply historical, ethical, social, and political principles to analyze and evaluate a case study and respond appropriately to it.

Graduates should have completed a strong liberal arts education that is helpful in their future pursuits.
